Three month ‘delay’ for the Planning Act

The Government has delayed implementation of the Planning and Subdivisions Act until October 1, 2010, the minister of the environment confirmed to Tribune Business yesterday, a move designed to give “interested” parties more time to assess the proposed Land Use Plan for New Providence.

Although the Act had originally been scheduled to take effect last Thursday, July 1, Earl Deveaux confirmed to Tribune Business: “The Government has determined to delay the coming into force, the implementation of the Planning and Subdivisions Act, until October 1.”

Tribune Business contacted Mr Deveaux after realtors and developers called this newspaper suggesting that the Government had decided to delay implementation for three months. (more…)
